About Recover in Grace

Return to health, regain what has been lost or stolen from you with simple elegance and the unmerited favor of God ~ Recover in Grace

Guided by biblical principles, it is my mission to document my personal journey of self-discovery and healing as well as reflect on the moments throughout my life that have contributed to the person I have become. My hope is that by facing my trauma head on I can deal with the pain, heal the wounds, experience recovery and live out my most authentic life.

By sharing the most intimate details of my life experience I pray my journey helps to encourage, empower, and inspire transformation in others. I draw strength from the knowledge that I can be a catalyst for God’s amazing grace to pour out over broken lives and testify to God’s abundant mercy and love.

Each of us has a “story” of hills and valleys that intersect and dead-end, wind and turn to create a reverse road map. A diagrammatic representation of a  landmarks, destinations, oceans cried and swam, summits ascended and rocky terrain begging avoidance. In the map of our lives we may be able to identify times that we lacked the strength, courage or knowledge to persevere but were carried through the wilderness. We can also use the blessing of retrospect to identify the characteristics of situations that could have or should have been avoided. Faith isn’t knowing what our future holds but knowing who holds our future and our faith is made strong when we can look back over our lives and see that everything has worked together for our good and prepared us to be who we are and do what we do right now in this moment.

My life has been a crazy journey filled with grief, sadness, pain and suffering but one constant has remained. Hope. I have always known that God has a plan for my life, even before I knew him personally I was aware of this truth. Each challenge, crisis or disaster I have encountered I have been able to joyfully and diligently pick up the scattered pieces and continue my travels with what I have come to know as God’s grace. His unmerited favor filled me with hope for better days and the absolute refusal to dwell in the anguish I’ve known. God has called me to share my experiences with others and bring hope to the hopeless. He has used each of my hills and valleys to equip me to convey his message of faith, hope and grace. I will indeed share my experiences although the message is not WHAT I’ve survived, but HOW I have overcame.

What you are struggling with in your life? Recovering from unhealthy or abusive relationships, addiction of any sort? Grief or loss? Whatever you’re dealing with God knows your pain and your suffering. He has created and breathed hope into a plan over your life and he has brought you to where you are this very moment. It is no accident that you have arrived at the Recover in Grace website. There is something here for you. Even as you muddle through your own pain, you are not alone. Your experiences are not without purpose. You can experience peace & joy while still in the wilderness. You do not have to “get right” before coming to God, rather, bring your baggage and allow HIM to help you sort it out.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
